Charlestown Code of Silence is broken.
May 31, 1995
(May) Six local men are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, armed robbery and distribute cocaine in the first trial in memory in which Charlestown residents come forward to testify against their neighbors. During the trial, two potential witnesses have their cars firebombed one has the word “snitch” painted on a wall near his home, and others are moved to temporary shelters in hotels. One of the defendants is subsequently acquitted, two plead guilty and receive lesser sentences, and three are convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
